Porcelain
over glazes
The porcelain art forms displayed represent one of the many
diverse ways in which one can work in this medium of over glaze painting.
Each art form has from eight to ten firings in a kiln. The artist works
from light to dark, firing each layer of mineral paint at a very hot
temperature. This firing ensures the paints will melt into the glaze of
the porcelain, thereby giving the glowing, glossy finish. The beauty of
the glow of these transparent layers is unequal in any other
medium.
